To the shock of many Steve Whitmere, the voice of Kermit the Frog for nearly three decades, was suddenly fired by the Walt Disney Company when they made the “decision to part ways” due to Whitmere’s “unacceptable business conduct.”
In July, Disney made the announcement that Matt Vogel would be taking over the voice of Kermit, and this week, the world was introduced to the new characterization of everyone’s favorite frog. Vogel first auditioned for the Jim Henson Company in 1993 and joined the crew of Sesame Street in 1996 as an ensemble puppeteer. Vogel is the third person to voice Kermit the Frog since his introduction in 1955.
