“Queer Eye For The Straight Guy” Is Back With An All New Fab 5

Netflix has released the first official trailer for the reboot of the early 2000's hit cultural phenomenon.

February 7th, 2018 there is a new Fab 5 getting ready to take the world by storm as Netflix prepares to premier its highly anticipated reboot of “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.”  The new series, based in Atlanta, stars Antoni Porowski, Bobby Berk, Karamo Brown, Jonathon Van Ness and Tan France.

The original early 2000s reality TV show, which won an Emmy in 2004 for “Most Outstanding Reality TV Program” focused on a different heterosexual man  each episode who was taken under the wing of the “Fab 5”, who would educate them on each of their areas of expertise: fashion, culture, food, interior design, and grooming.

In the reboot, the show seems to follow the same structure but with an update that focuses on a new, socially-conscious agenda, and tackles the advances the LGBTQ community has made, as well as the setbacks we have faced within our own community and beyond.

“In a time when America stands divided and the future seems uncertain, a team of five brave men will try to bring us closer together with laughter, heart, and just the right amount of moisturizer.  The Emmy Award-winning Queer Eye is back and ready to Make America Fabulous Again. With a new Fab 5 and the show’s toughest missions to date, Queer Eye moves from the Big Apple to turn the Red States pink — one makeover at a time.”

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, series creator David Collins expressed the excitement of introducing the show to a new generation. “The millennials don’t remember the old show,” he said, “It’s got such a great heart and soul and humor to it, so I’m excited for a new audience.”

Watch the official trailer here, and log on to Netflix on February 7th to let the binge begin!
